The Dashboard is the cross-project home. Where the [Desk](/docs/desk) lists articles that need a decision, the Dashboard frames the whole portfolio: where work is stuck, where the next opportunity is, and how far each project has got. Every number on it counts an outcome or an action, not an inventory.

## Before your first project

With no projects, the Dashboard shows a welcome with three steps (Create a project, Run research, Get briefs) and one button, **Create Your First Project**. [Your first project](/docs/your-first-project) covers what happens after you press it.

## What the Dashboard shows

Top to bottom:

- **Four stat cards.** **Briefs ready to write** counts articles at brief ready, with a note when new ones arrived this week. **Untapped opportunity** counts gap clusters with an opportunity score of 0.5 or more that no article covers yet. **Live keyword footprint** counts distinct keywords where a page you own appeared in the top 10 results. **Research credits** shows the credits available and when the cycle resets.
- **A prompts card**, on free accounts only, pointing to the prompt library for the active project.
- **Pipeline velocity**: article statuses by week for the last 12 weeks, in five bands: Planned, Generating brief, Brief ready, Writing (drafting through ready to publish) and Published.
- **Next steps**: the five most urgent moves across all projects, ranked by severity. Confirming a niche comes first, then running research, then adding opportunities, then writing articles.
- **Portfolio**: one row per project with its best opportunity, a pipeline bar (planned, brief ready, writing, live), when research last ran, and a one-word next step: Confirm, Refresh, Plan or Write. Research older than 30 days is marked, and more strongly past 60.
- **Recent activity**: up to six events from the last seven days, namely research runs that completed or failed and briefs that became ready.

## Where the data comes from

The Dashboard covers the projects of every organization you belong to. Each section loads on its own, so a slow section does not hold up the rest.

- Brief counts, pipeline bands and the portfolio bars read article statuses in your content plans. The velocity chart buckets each article by the week it last changed, which approximates when it moved rather than recording every move.
- Untapped opportunity and best opportunity read the opportunity clusters your research runs produced.
- Live keyword footprint reads the search results captured during research runs, matched against your own pages. It is as fresh as each project's last run, which is why the Portfolio shows that date. It is not rank tracking: nothing polls positions between runs.
- Research credits read your organization's plan. [Free and paid](/docs/free-and-paid) explains them.

## What you can do here

The Dashboard is a launch point, not a place to edit. Each **Next steps** entry links to where the step happens: the project's overview for confirming a niche or running research, its opportunities or content plan for the rest. Each **Portfolio** row and each **Recent activity** entry opens that project. The prompts card opens the prompt library with **Open prompt library**.

## The same read over MCP

- `get_account_status` returns the plan, credits and limits for one organization, plus `next_actions`, a ranked cross-project queue built from the same next-step logic as the Next steps card, plus a publish-manually entry, ranked first, for articles waiting at ready to publish.
- `list_projects` lists the projects, with `lastActivityAt` for each.
- `get_project_overview` returns one project's niche summary, keyword stats, its own ranked `nextActions` and its top priorities: the per-project version of a Portfolio row.
- `list_opportunities` returns the clusters behind Untapped opportunity.
