The Overview is the first screen under a project in the sidebar. It says where the project stands and what the next move is. What it shows depends on the niche analysis and the latest research run.

## What the screen shows

The Overview has four states.

- **Niche still analyzing.** Right after the project is created, a loading screen runs while the niche profile is written. It expects about a minute.
- **Niche analysis failed.** An error card explains the likely cause in plain words and offers a free **Retry**, a link to try a different website, and a way to reach support.
- **Research running.** A progress view replaces the dashboard: a four-step stepper (Discover, SERP, Profile, Cluster), a line naming the keyword or competitor being worked on, and a time bar sized for about an hour. When the run ends, the dashboard refreshes on its own.
- **The dashboard.** Shown with no run, after a completed run, or after a failed one.

The dashboard holds, top to bottom:

- A niche confirmation card, until you confirm the niche. It shows the niche details (name, industry, language, country, target customer, core problem, related terms) and the site read.
- Three stat cards. **Research**: time since the last completed run, with query and company counts. **Your Site**: pages found and the keywords they rank for, plus when the site was last read. **Topic Clusters**: the cluster count, how many have coverage, and how many are in the plan.
- On the free plan, a card pointing to the prompt library.
- A freshness banner when research is 30 days old or more, or has never run.
- A research error card in place of next steps when the latest run failed. It says what went wrong and that the credit was restored, and its **Retry Analysis** button starts a new run, which spends a credit.
- **Next Steps**: one recommendation, checked in order. Confirm the niche, run or re-run stale research, build up the plan toward 15 uncovered topics, write the articles that are ready, or add the remaining uncovered topics.
- **Best New Opportunities** (the top 5 uncovered clusters by score) and **Fiercest Competitors** (the top 5 by search presence), once a run has data.

## Where the data comes from

The niche card reads the niche profile written at project creation. Page and keyword counts come from the site read, so they fill in before any research. Research, cluster and competitor figures come from the latest completed run, so a failed latest run still shows the last good data. Plan counts read the content plan live.

## What you can do here

- **Looks good** confirms the niche. **Refine with AI** opens a box where you say what was wrong, and the niche and site summary are rewritten.
- **Run Research** (or **Re-run Research** after a first run) starts a run. It is disabled until the niche is confirmed, with the hint "Confirm your niche first", and while a start is in flight. Without a plan or credits, a dialog offers the next plan or **View Plans** instead of starting.
- **Refresh site** re-reads your website for free. It shows "Scanning your website..." while it runs, then cools down for 1 hour on a paid plan or 24 hours on the free plan, with a tooltip saying when the next refresh opens.
- **To Content Plan** on a Best New Opportunities row adds that cluster to the plan. Each row also links to the cluster's detail page.
- The Next Steps button runs research or opens [Opportunities](/docs/opportunities) or the [Content Plan](/docs/content-plan).

## The same state over MCP

- `get_project_overview` returns the niche summary, keyword stats, `nextActions` and `topPriorities`, the ranked queue of suggestions.
- `get_project` reports `niche.analysisStatus`; `update_niche` edits the niche fields.
- `start_research_run` and `get_research_status` start and follow a run, as [the data-backed path](/docs/data-backed-path) explains.
- `remap_asset` is **Refresh site**, the same action as **Re-map website** in [project settings](/docs/project-settings), with the same cooldown.
